Our friends at KingsCrowd have been tracking online startup investing since 2018. They gather data on deal volume, industry growth, investor check sizes, founder demographics and everything in between.
So we were excited to learn about their 2021 Market Intelligence Report. It offers tons of information and analysis about how the equity crowdfunding space has evolved over time and how it performed in the last year.
For example, the report reveals that online equity crowdfunding has grown dramatically over the last four years. In 2018, investors poured $75.8 million into startups. In 2021, that figure grew to $486.8 million — a 541% increase.
In this episode of Startup Insider, Vin Narayanan and Andy Gordon sit down with KingsCrowd CEO Chris Lustrino to learn more about the state of the online startup investing market and discuss some key insights from the report. Topics include: why the space is growing so rapidly, why raise limits are important to founders, why founders consider special purpose vehicles and more.
