Crypto may be going through a bear market, but that doesn’t mean there’s no good news. Two pension funds in Virginia have invested in a crypto venture capital fund, which is a huge step forward for institutional involvement in crypto. And the SEC is closer to providing clear guidance on when an initial coin offering (ICO) is considered a security.
On CoinMarketCap, Binance Coin (or BNB) has become one of the top 10 coins by market cap. The coin will be a major part of Binance DEX, Binance’s new decentralized exchange. While most people use bitcoin to buy other coins, users who exchange their bitcoin for BNB coins can use BNB to get discounted trading fees on Binance. The discount decreases every year, but Binance has come up with interesting ways to offset this for its users.
On the bitcoin front, Twitter and Square CEO Jack Dorsey plans to integrate the bitcoin Lightning Network into Square’s Cash App. Dorsey is a bitcoin maximalist, which means he believes bitcoin will ultimately be the only successful cryptocurrency and all other coins will fail.
Adam sees where maximalists are coming from – after all, bitcoin has a strong brand, top security and plenty of other things going for it – but disagrees with their one-coin approach. He thinks they’re missing the point on one key issue… Finally, Adam and Andy discuss the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto. A few different people have been identified as (or have claimed to be) Nakamoto. But do we really need to know his identity? And would knowing change our opinion about bitcoin?
